for the past few weeks, since things have been so completely goddamned fucking insanely busy, i’ve taken to going to kasey’s on fridays, having some beers and working (via laptop and bluetooth cell phone’s ‘net service as network access) on less-important things that i don’t get to during the day. right now i’m working on integrating our web designer’s work into our puremessage site, to give it the official nsit look and feel. of course she does the heavy lifting, but unfortunately the way that it’s set up is all perl and cgi and there are very few actual html pages for her to tweak, so she has to email us the html files and we have to stuff them in and make them work.
you know, totally off-topic, i do kind of enjoy web design. as much as css frustrates me and makes me crazy when i’m trying to, say, obey the hipster web types who say that css > tables, it is a nice challenge at times, and i do like the aesthetic satisfaction at the end, when i end up with something pretty. anyways, i’m growing to like this new routine. i don’t know how much longer it’ll be a routine, because i kinda like not spending my friday nights working on work, but, as work locations and communities go, this one ain’t bad. plus, tasty, tasty beer.i got my new corporate mastercard through work today.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA. … actually, i just got it so i could register for conferences, so i finally got around to registering for lisa at long last (have been putting it off for a while now). holy shit, did they improve the conference. it’s now got all six days of tutorials. i’m highly impressed. i shall have to buy lee a tasty drink. also, of personal interest to me and probably me only, i managed to get permission to take the train instead of flying. rawk. i have to split the cost with work, because it’s expensive (i’m also riding in sleeper compartments, versus coach, which is why the $$$; otherwise, coach is generally cheap. actually coach is usually pretty comfy, but since i’m going to be spending a bunch of time on the train, i can relax and drink tea and stuff in my compartment, and meals are free for sleepers, and it’s just so civilized to ride in the sleepers, ’70s decor aside. man, i love taking the train. i’m so glad i get to take it, i haven’t been on amtrak in about two years. and, the way things are going, i don’t know how much longer passenger rail will still be practical for me to take, so i need to enjoy it while i still can). also, i have a several-hour layover in d.c. on both trips, as there isn’t a direct route from chicago to atlanta. i’m looking forward to that. i don’t know what i’ll do in six hours, but i’ve never had any time at all when i’ve been in d.c. to just go look at things, so maybe i’ll do that. i know dick durbin does a “breakfast with the constituents” thing, i wonder if that would be an option? that would be pretty goddamn cool. YAY TRAIN! am very excited.oh, and — fellow lisa attendees: i’m arriving sunday the 15th, and leaving sunday the 21st. we shall all meet up for drinks. THIS MEANS YOU.
i just realized that i forgot to set the vcr to tape “er” tonight.
then i remembered that i have tivo now! woohoo, tivo!
