i got my new corporate mastercard through work today.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA.

actually, i just got it so i could register for conferences, so i finally got around to registering for lisa at long last (have been putting it off for a while now). holy shit, did they improve the conference. it’s now got all six days of tutorials. i’m highly impressed. i shall have to buy lee a tasty drink.

also, of personal interest to me and probably me only, i managed to get permission to take the train instead of flying. rawk. i have to split the cost with work, because it’s expensive (i’m also riding in sleeper compartments, versus coach, which is why the $$$; otherwise, coach is generally cheap. actually coach is usually pretty comfy, but since i’m going to be spending a bunch of time on the train, i can relax and drink tea and stuff in my compartment, and meals are free for sleepers, and it’s just so civilized to ride in the sleepers, ’70s decor aside. man, i love taking the train. i’m so glad i get to take it, i haven’t been on amtrak in about two years. and, the way things are going, i don’t know how much longer passenger rail will still be practical for me to take, so i need to enjoy it while i still can). also, i have a several-hour layover in d.c. on both trips, as there isn’t a direct route from chicago to atlanta. i’m looking forward to that. i don’t know what i’ll do in six hours, but i’ve never had any time at all when i’ve been in d.c. to just go look at things, so maybe i’ll do that. i know dick durbin does a “breakfast with the constituents” thing, i wonder if that would be an option? that would be pretty goddamn cool. YAY TRAIN! am very excited.

oh, and — fellow lisa attendees: i’m arriving sunday the 15th, and leaving sunday the 21st. we shall all meet up for drinks. THIS MEANS YOU.
