this is completely lame. i worked a full day today, my first day actually back at work, and i’m totally worn out. also i have a bitchfucking headache that would kill a small animal. possibly a mid-sized one.
first of all, it’s not like i really even did anything. wtf? second of all, it’s not like i’m sick. i just have a broken wrist. it’s not even like i have to use crutches. i mostly just have issues with shit like lifting my laptop bag or putting on my coat, or how absolutely everything in the world is oriented for the right-handed. wtf2? i had stuff to do tonight, but i think my plans for this evening just switched to “eat a sandwich, take a couple of painkillers, and go back to sleep.” i totally would have left work mid-afternoon except the stupid #2 bus only runs durng rush hours so i had to either walk half a mile with my heavy, constantly slipping off my shoulder laptop bag (it’s a messenger bag, but i can’t lift it over my head at the moment), which was not really an option, or wait until the #2 started running. ugh. ugh. ugh.Made it all the way into the office today, before I realized that I’d forgotten two things: the power adapter for my laptop, and my head set microphone with which i dictate text into my computer. That was fun.
fortunately, bob was willing to drive me back home, so that i could pick them up. conveniently that allowed me to pick up the laptop that campus computer store had loaned me, to take to LISA this year. i hadn’t been able to bring it back to work yet, because i can’t lift two laptop bags at the same time. as a matter of fact, i can barely carry the one laptop bag, with my powerbook, because my left wrist is still all fucked up. i was really expecting it to be better by now, and am somewhat wondering if i hurt it more badly than i thought. such has been the nature of my life the past two weeks. now, if i could just get rid of this damn headache…i don’t think of myself, generally, as a meanspirited person, but it probably doesn’t say much for me that my greatest hope as regards my neighbor to the east is that she will suffer either (a) loss of her voice for a period not less than the remainder of her lease, (b) she will (i) suffer from an unregulated power surge that will destroy all of her electronics, *especially* and most importantly her stereo receiver and component gear, while (ii) she has no renter’s insurance to cover replacements, or (c) both.
