goodness. maybe it’s because i was stuck in a smiths funk for the past couple of days and was playing my (small) collection endlessly on repeat, and then started looking at fansites replete with photos of the band, but then i watched the video for his new single, and — goodness — morrissey is not aging very well, is he?

song’s ok, though. i don’t see in it evidence of why people seem to keep telling me how good “you are the quarry” is, though i’m tempted — contrary to precedent, which is namely that morrissey is too whiny even for me, and without johnny marr the whininess is unbalanced — to get it anyways. i think i just like the sound of morrissey’s voice, but if he distracts me from that with annoying lyrics (e.g., the “meat is murder” title track) then it bugs me. too bad yesterday i forbade myself from buying anything else on iTunes for the time being.
