  • Thank you, Baby Jesus, for BBC America and Blackadder, and saving me from Fox News. #
  • Really. The Glenn Beck Christmas Extravaganza. This is what Hell is, right? #
  • Ahh, Christmas. That special time of year for watching Glenn Beck and Dad telling me how #hcr is unconstitutional. Can has next week yet? #
  • Arrived safely in p-town. It’s all I hoped for. *sigh* #
  • Gifts all wrapped. Just left to get cat set, and load up the car. And vroom. #
  • @etoile Show up at a random stitch ‘n bitch and get someone to help? That’s how I learned to crochet, by announcing I can’t do it. :) in reply to etoile #

  • Home early, cup of coffee, no obligations, and @Radio1 on the stereo makes for a happy niqui. #
  • It is sometimes necessary to remind myself that acquisition of consumer goods is NOT a competition. Even with yarn and fiber! #
  • (That said, the $15 cones of laceweight were tempting. BUT I HAVE ENOUGH LACEWEIGHT, I MUST RESIST.) #
  • Feel much better about yarn diet after scanning WEBS’ sale yarns and realizing nothing actually screams “BUY ME” at me. I shall overcome! #
  • Okay, I got the cat to take his pill, and *that* was a production. Surely *now* I’m done for the day, right?? #
  • I got up on time, I made coffee, I sent in a feature request to @IGGSoftware for iBank. Surely that’s all that’s required of me today, yeah? #
  • Got donor invite to open rehearsal at @chicagosymphony for Boulez performance in Jan! Can’t wait to ask for day off work. :) #
  • You know. Am enjoying my free time, but can’t help but feel that I want school to start back up again – want to get this thing finished! #
  • Have to say. Loooove spinning that gorgeous tussah silk, & yarn will be gorgeous when done, but it sheds all over everything! #
  • @cloudlover Sounds like a good reason to get together with some friends and go someplace with them! in reply to cloudlover #

According to my iTunes added-to-library date, In reverse order, counting down from the album I bought this morning:

  • Vive la Fête, Nuit Blanche – recommended by last.fm
  • Phoenix, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix – recommended by Whirl
  • JP Nataf, Clair – last.fm
  • Bill Withers, Lean On Me – The Very Best of Bill Withers – heard one song on CSI: NY (“Ain’t No Sunshine”), had to have it, got the best of
  • Lily Allen, Alright, Still – didn’t have it
  • Calvin Harris, I Created Disco – last.fm
  • Passion Pit, Manners – Don’t recall, possibly Radio 1
  • Mr Hudson, Straight No Chaser – Radio 1, definitely
  • Kylie Minogue, Fever – I went on a disco kick for a bit there
  • Dannii Minogue, Club Disco – see above!
  • Lily Allen, It’s Not Me, It’s You – sometimes you just need more snark in your life
  • Felix da Housecat, Virgo Blaktro & the Movie Disco and He Was King – new release and missed the last one
  • MIA, Arular and Kala – I admit it, it was because I decided I needed more of this after hearing “Paper Planes” used by Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story trailer.
  • Kate Bush, Hounds of Love – has the distinction of being the only physical compact disc I bought all year, because it wasn’t available on iTunes; had to go to amazon.co.uk for it.
  • Yoel Levi et al.: Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, The Music of Barber – totally went on a Barber kick for a while after hearing the CSO do “Adagio for Strings,” which is an utter heartbreaker.
  • David Byrne & Brian Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today – probably heard it announced on BoingBoing, but didn’t really need much encouragement to go get it
  • Michael Jackson, Off the WallThriller has been my #1 pop album of all time for so long it’s hard to believe I’d never really listened to Off the Wall at all. But I did my part to keep record sales up after he died, I guess.
  • Gustavo Dudamel & Los Angeles Philharmonic, DG Concerts – Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra – Dudamel kick, again after CSO.
  • Fleet Foxes, Fleet Foxes. Maybe recommended by last.fm?
  • Sigur Rós, Med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust – new release
  • Marin Alsop & Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Barber: Violin Concerto; Serenade for Strings; Souvenirs
  • Baltimore Symphony Orchestra et al, The Beauty of Barber
  • Little Boots, Illuminations EP – Radio 1
  • Simian Mobile Disco, Attack Sustain Decay Release – definitely Radio 1
  • Röyksopp, Junior – pretty sure also Radio 1
  • Tricot Machine, Tricot Machine – someone posted the video for “L’ours,” and it was awesome, so I picked up the album. Which is also awesome.
  • Robyn Hitchcock, Goodnight Oslo – XRT, actually, after hearing “What You Is.”
  • Pet Shop Boys, Yes – new release
  • TV on the Radio, Return to Cookie Mountain – someone or other said I’d probably like it
  • The Baseball Project, Vol. 1: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails – because who doesn’t need a whole album themed around baseball, featuring a track called about how “I’m Ted Fucking Williams”?
  • Glasvegas, Glasvegas – surely must have been Radio 1
  • A Number of Names, “Sharevari” – saw a video clip of a Detroit local dance show from 1982, this is historically significant as one of the earliest examples of Detroit techno. Stands up very well
  • Lady GaGa, The Fame – picked this up after it was recommended by a Scottish kid in the hostel where I was staying in London in January, who was aghast (!!! aghast !!!) to learn I’d never heard of her, when he’d been told she was “very big in America.” This was, obviously, before she became very big in America — though perhaps not by much.
  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It’s Blitz! – new release
  • Joanna Newsom, Milk-Eyed Mender – heard “Peach, Plum, Pear” used as music to choreograph a steampunk robot ballerina video thing — maybe you had to be there, but it was a really great choice
  • Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Bernard Haitink, Shostakovich: Symphony No. 4
  • Andrew Schenck & The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Samuel Barber
  • Snow Patrol, A Hundred Million Suns – new release
  • Bernard Haitink & Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Mahler: Symphony No. 6 In A Minor – “Tragic” (Live) – is this the one they just won the grammy for, I think?
  • Pink, Funhouse – new release
  • Office, A Night at the Ritz – chicagoist, maybe?
  • “Silence in the Library”/”Forest of the Dead” two-parter and spinning the most fantastic silk roving. Nice way to end a Tuesday. #
