the everyday adventures of sabrina

i'm happy, hope you're happy too
  • Got my flu shot! I feel all industrious. #
  • @secabeen Sounds about right! #
  • Today is payday, aka “401(k) contribution purchase day.” Cheering all day for the dow to tank so we score cheap funds. Feel let down. #
  • It is worthy of note that I now feel like -450 is just another ordinary day. #
  • Dow lost over 700! Hurrah! (Why the hell not. At this point all that is left to us is gallows humor, so I might as well enjoy it.) #

  • @hubbit sudo usually has a timeout of, say, 5m or so. So long as you keep using it within that amount of time, it won’t prompt. #
  • Shopped ’til i dropped. Ow. On the bright side, my eyes look *fantastic* #
  • Disappointed; apparently my last.fm scrobbling of what I listened to all day on my igadget disappeared into the ether. No scrobbles for me! #

  • @smokes70 Good luck! Big money! #
  • I both love and hate that BBC Radio 1 is the only radio station introducing me to new music anymore. Why does US radio such so much? #
  • $song eats $brain{niqui}. #
  • Simple pleasure: the scent immediately after you drop some earl grey tea into a cup of hot water, and the bergamot wafts up at you. #
  • Fighting the unfightable impulse to go shopping. Inexplicably, I want new makeup soooo baaaaaad. #

  • I learned something new – you can write checks to the government to pay down the national debt. And people do! http://tinyurl.com/6mm86u #
  • Just measured my afghan. Thought it was halfway done — it’s 5 feet long. That’s way more than halfway. Might actually finish someday! Yay! #
  • Only out of the house 5 mins, and already wondering if i should admit defeat by the stupid marathon. #

spent yesterday in a happy haze of slack, lazily cleaning out my closet and rearranging some stuff, contemplating a foolish venture in temporary roommatehood (someone please remind me why it would be unwise to host someone for 2-4 weeks in my 1br, even in the name of a really good cause, one which kept them away from the house except for sleeping), and generally goofing off around the house. this recharged my batteries enough to get me motivated to go haul the shit downstairs and load it up into the car, and head out to go up north and donate it all to the brown elephant, even though this trip is normally somewhere in the 60-90 minute range to get up there and find a parking spot.

then i left the garage, went south on state heading for roosevelt to pop onto LSD, and … marathon.

marathon *everywhere*.

after being rerouted south and west for a ways, taking a scenic and very irritating unplanned tour of chinatown and pilsen, i was just fighting to figure out how the hell to get back home. i wound up back at state and roosevelt about 45 minutes later, and, thoroughly defeated, pulled into jewel to at least do my grocery shopping, since it was obvious i wasn’t going up the north side any time soon.

at least jewel was deserted; i got in and out in less time than it’d taken to get there. so that’s a bright side.

jeeeez. next year, for the marathon, i’m just laying in a supply of microwave popcorn and staying inside my cave the whole damn time.
