oh my gosh. the post office’s and my schedule finally coincided and i was able to stop by and claim my parcel… which did indeed turn out to be from my wonderful secret pal!!

LUFTPOST

(image heavy post, squeeing behind the jump.)
((and i’m serious: there’s a lot of squeeeee!))

goodies!

look at all the goodies!

isn’t this yarn beautiful?

Sock yarn!!!

Let's see that again

Rohrspatz und Wollmeise handgefärbte Sockenwolle “Superwash”, in color Sultan

it’s so gorgeous. i had to take a close-up photo of it! and it’s so soft! she writes in her note that this is the nicest sock yarn you can find in germany — i can believe it! it’s seriously, seriously wonderful stuff, you guys. i just want to sit and pet it. thank you, secret pal!!

but that’s not all! i had confessed a certain fear of lace and a desire to knit more socks, so my secret pal picked out an easy lace sock pattern and picked out the perfect sock yarn to go with it! and, no joke, you guys — i was in a yarn store today and looking at violet sock yarn thinking about how i would like a
pair of purple socks. and look! i have purple sock yarn! my secret pal is psychic!

Knit more socks!

Lang Jawoll Superwash, in color 0190, paired with an annotated pattern for Baudelaire!

and she wants me to “Knit more socks!” teehee! :)

Needles! Chocolate! Wild times!

now that card is a lovely little postcard which, had i read it, translates the decorative plate for me… but i was too impatient! i had to get my german dictionary and start translating! this, i have to tell you, was an exciting adventure in rediscovering just how really, really, really bad my german accent is. really. i’m ashamed of it. i can’t say Rs the right way, i always sound them like i’m speaking french, and that’s really just the tip of the iceberg. Frau Baker would be ashamed of having given me the german award senior year in high school if she knew how bad it was. i think even my cats are embarassed for me.

anyways, i translated the legend on the plaque — Wild Times — which is too cute. and then i struggled through all the words on the back (now i know how to say “dishwasher-safe” and “heatproof,” which are really just the sort of useful words you never learn in school, when you’re busy learning how to say
“the cat is under the table.” seriously, i have two cats and listen, there really are only so many times in your life you need to say “the cat is under the table.” it is in this way that we learn german class is actually exactly the same as french class: “Wo sind die Katzen?” “Les chats sont en dessous de la table. Chais pas pourquoi!” but i digress!). and then i realized the postcard translated the front for me! see how being impatient works out for me? :-)

but! anyways! back to the goodies!! in addition to my deer, and my gorgeous sockenwollen (and can i just tell you how soft they are??), i got a set of 2,5mm bamboo sock needles to work my socks on (which my SP tells me are much easier than the short ones, so i’m eager to try them out!), and … Schokolade!
yum!

here’s everything! isn’t my secret pal so awesome?

Everything!

thank you, Secret Pal! this wonderful parcel really made my whole day! :)))
